My name is Fanny K.
I'm 20 years old.
I live in Florida.
I have an incredible boyfriend.
I'm going to school to be a licensed cosmetologist.
In January of 2016 I will be living in Cali. #FIDM
So, I graduated high school and I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. Well I mean, I did. I just didn't feel 100% sure I was going to always want to do that. So I took this past year to do some thinking, working, and more thinking. That's when I discovered the power of YouTube. Sitting at home literally everyday, watching nothing but makeup tutorials, I began to get really into makeup. So after a couple months,I had decided I wanted to get my cosmetology license, tough choice huh? Not really. So then, my boyfriend helped me realize that not only did I want to be a licensed cosmetology, I also thought there was so much more I could do with my life in the beauty industry, so then I began to research majors withing the beauty industry, and I ran across a YouTube video (no surprise there) talking about FIDM. Now, mind you I had already heard about this school literally like a year before, and I just didn't know what I wanted to do. I started looking into the school and I completely fell in love, and hey! why not move all the way across the country for some time, right? So I decided once I finish getting my cosmetology license, I will be moving from Florida, all the way to Cali for 2 years to major in Beauty Industry Merchandising and Marketing. I want to be a beauty product developer for one of my all time favorite high end makeup brands, which just so happens to be Benefit Cosmetics.
To me the beauty industry is so much more thank makeup and brushes. It had a lot to do with me learning to accept myself, to realize that I was beautiful in my own way. I have had a lot of self esteem issues and through makeup I have found a way to accept myself. We don't use makeup to "hide the real us" or to be "fake". Makeup is a way of expressing yourself, it's an art. Just like painting, but for this our face is the canvas. Don't be judgmental with people just because they wear makeup. Seriously. Give them a compliment and tell them they're eyeshadow is well blended :)
